London Travelwatch have criticised the Mayor, Boris Johnson, for ploughing ahead with his plans to scrap, or mothball the bendy bus in London.
Can London afford to pay for the extra buses, to have the extra traffic on the road? Just for the sake of the few drivers and non-users who supported Boris’s election pledge to remove them? £12 million could be spent a lot more efficiently in London right now.
If Boris was seriously keeping London’s best interests at heart, he’d have published reliable figures to show how the phased withdrawal of the large-capacity buses by 2011 will affect London’s roads and finances.
