I sometimes notice irony, so this isn’t a dig/spat, whatever you might think. I even asked a policeman why this happens -“it just does”, he agreed.
I’d always thought of police using sirens to get through traffic for their tea break as an urban myth.
Then I passed Tesco on the Caledonian Road, and there was a police car sat outside on the double yellow lines with lights flashing. Obviously on business, I thought.
Sod’s law. The split-second the photograph was taken, the light-strobe was not there – but the lights were flashing!
Went into the shop. Panic over. The policemen were stood patiently queueing to pay for their sandwiches.
After the obligitory half-hour wait (is it me, or are Tesco local shops badly managed in that respect?), they popped their lunch in the boot and made off. Emergency over.
