Hate crimes advertisement
It’s a bit grainy, but you can see the headline “Being Black, White or Asian is not a crime… Safer Lambeth”.
The blue box says “You could: Receive and ASBO, lose your home or go to prison!”
I won’t draw into the debate on whether these things actually happen to people who commit hate crimes, as in my experience, local councils don’t really do all that much to help when someone is a victim of a hate crime. I’m more worried about how they managed to put this ad out with “receive and asbo” … it’s not even grammar!
The other glaring error, this advert suggests that it’s okay to commit hate crimes against Oriental people. Well, it doesn’t say you can’t!
