Yes. Today I receive another letter from them. Despite the hassle of dealing with them in this post, they’ve sent me another letter. Further below I disect the letter, but first I want to draw your attention to an Advertising Standards Authority ruling:
Advertising Standards Authority ruling on previous mailing from Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd.
Before you read that, I should draw your attention to three things:
- Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. had a complaint against them upheld on the grounds that their previous mailings breached CAP Code clause 7.1 on the grounds of TRUTHFULNESS.
- Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. had a complaint agsint them upheld on the grounds that their previous mailings breached CAP code clause 43.2 on the grounds of database practice. They won’t even tell the ASA where they get their mailing list from.
- Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. had a complaint against them upheld on the grounds that their previous mailings breached CAP code clause 7.1 on the grounds of TRUTHFULNESS.
You’ll get the point of why I’ve over emphasised those three points, and used such large red letters to emphasise that the company breached rules on truthfulness when you see a reconstruction of what they send people:
So, if you get a letter from:
Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd., Unit 5, Capitol Trading Park, Kirkby Bank Road, Kirkby L33 7SY
You can safely throw it in the bin. I opened mine, and was confronted with a big red “IMPORTANT NOTICE” which was “REQUIRING URGENT ATTENTION”. Their capitals, not mine. As with the last time they wrote to me, I was a little sceptical as to how factual their letter heading was.
Foolishly, I read on, I’m re-writing here the exact colour/bold/grammar that they sent me…
“YOUR SKY DIGITAL SATELLITE SYSTEM WARRANTY IS DUE TO EXPIRE.” I’ll correct them here, my Sky box was covered by a standard warranty which expired several years ago.
“WHY WAIT 3 DAYS FOR A SERVICE CALL, WHEN OUR UNIQUE SAME DAY SERVICE IS AVAILABLE FROM ONLY £5.99 PER MONTH.” Since you ask, I wouldn’t pay that because if I had put that amount in a bank account each month since my Sky warranty expired, I could afford to buy a new HD box for myself.
“Call 0871 423 7974 without delay”
I’m wondering why they request my telephonic company so immediately, and find the answer in their smaller block capitals…
AS SOON AS YOUR SKY DIGITAL SYSTEM IS OVER 12 MONTHS OLD, YOUR STANDARD SKY WARRANTY EXPIRES. IN SHORT THE SYSTEM IS NOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR AND MAINTAIN. NO MORE FREE CALL-OUTS!
IF YOU REQUIRE A SERVICE CALL AND YOUR SKY DIGITAL SYSTEM IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, YOU WILL NOW BE CHARGED A MINIMUM CALL OUT FEE OF £72. [I assume this is the feeble excuse they have found to write to me again, but it holds no water.]
RESTORE PEACE OF MIND AND EXTEND YOUR SKY DIGITAL WARRANTY WITH US. WE’RE ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY WITH EASY PAYMENT OPTIONS BY CHEQUE, DIRECT DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD
OUR UNIQUE SAME DAY SERVICE* MEANS THAT IF YOU CALL OUR SERVICE LINE BEFORE 10AM WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO HAVE AN ENGINEER AT YOUR HOUSE THAT DAY. [Three things strike me, a * in a sentence, not a 1 which would look semi-professional; the other two are that they will endeavour to have an engineer at my house that day. What is endeavour? How hard will you really try? Come on, I don't want to be left without the latest Katie Price and Peter Andre story on Living TV! Another question, would this engineer care to show me his professional qualification upon arrival, along with his I.D.?]
I finally find the little * at the bottom of the large upper case capitals. I squint to see the smallest writing.
*service calls dependent on engineer availability and stock levels. (Not including weekends or bank holidays.)
Sorry, my mobile phone insurance costs far less, and guarantees me someone with a replacement phone on my door that day, are you even trying to provide a service here?
I’m sorry, I don’t buy it. Although I’m not going to get a warranty for a Sky box that’s done fine for several years, I felt obliged to check my options. Here’s a price-comparison: [28 June 2008]
| DSWC Ltd. | SKY | |
|---|---|---|
| Simple Sky System | £5.99 per month | £5.75 per month, for 3 boxes |
| Sky+ | £9.59 per month | £8.25 per month, inc 1 SkyHD or Sky+ box or 2 normal boxes |
| Two Simple Sky Systems | £9.99 per month | £5.75 per month for THREE boxes |
| Sky+ and a Simple Sky System | £12.99 per month | £8.25 per month, includes TWO Simple Sky Systems |
I’m sorry, I’d rather pay the lower price to Sky for a next day service. Maybe three days at the outset, if they are really busy and somoene’s off with gastric flu, just to cover themselves.
I haven’t given a good enough idea of how childishly Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. convey themselves in their letter. I really cannot recall ever having received any information in writing which was an “IMPORTANT NOTICE” which was “REQUIRING URGENT ATTENTION” with those two parts covering 1/7 of a page. Any solicitor, hospital or doctor etc who has felt the requirement to write to me has used a modest letterhead. So why does Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. feel the need to make such a striking impression?
We’re all human, and allowed to make our own choices, but believe me, from what I can tell, and Im not a lawyer, professional or anything clever like that, if you use these Digital Satellite Warranty Cover people, you’re a fool.
Oh yeah, their FREEPOST address, which you can send things to is:
FREEPOST RRHK-EUUZ-EKHC Unit 5 Capitol Trading Park Kirkby Bank Road Knowsley Industrial Park LIVERPOOL L33 7SYI’m a member of the Mail Preference Service, I’ve informed them. To me, if you post something to me, it becomes my property to disclose at my will. Next time I receive a letter from these people I’m going to get more personal legal advice.
Update 12th July 2008:
I received another “IMPORTANT NOTICE, REQUIRING URGENT ATTENTION” today. Apparently it’s my final reminder that I need to take them up on their exclusive offer. I still can’t see anything exclusive about it, and their prices are still more than Sky would charge. They’ve introduced a same day service, so long as I report a fault to them by 10:00am and wait in all day.
The Mail Preference Service has responded to say that they will take up the case.
This person has thought that I’m working with Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. They are an entirely separate entity, I don’t know them, or anyone who works for them. All I know is that they pester me, and thousands of others, without good reason.
Thank you all for the information.
I had a letter this morning and I do not have SKY.
On googling it I found all your comments – how do they get away with it?
BIN it is!!!!!
i also have received calls from them despite being registered with tps. they tell me my warranty has expired, in fact i have just had sky+ installed 2 months ago. i have received severalcalls from these people. how do they get my details, sky must give them to a mailing company which is notcorrect. what action can we take to put a stop to this?
Thanks for the original post and thanks especially to the recent comments by all who were tricked into signing up. I thought the big red “URGENT” notices looked suspicious and luckily google’d it first.
Conmen are going to find it increasingly hard to operate against the ease of Google.
I just got another letter from them and their latest number is 0871 265 9865
I called them and told them to take our address off their database. When I asked them where they got our address the girl blurted out that they had bought it from a mailing address company. They now sent the same addressed to my Mother…
The only answer is to try to steer clear of the more dodgy retailers when doing business by phone or online. I personally am most suspicious of the ‘checkout’ systems companies on Ebay etc who route you to other sites asking for details that Ebay and Paypal etc already have…
Thanks all for comments. I received my letter from Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd today 4th July and actually phoned them to arrange cover. Luckily I didn’t get an answer and decided to google them. What a blessing, read all your comments and now there IMPORTANT NOTICE finds its way into the bin.
Signed up with them well over a year ago. Been taking £6.50 per month out of my account but had taken £49.99 out in January without authorisation. Phoned them up and they said it was for a broadband package we had ordered, we never did, we never had a computer at the time. Looked at my bank statement last week and noticed they have taken another £49.99 out earlier this month. Tried to ring them but am getting no answer. Cancelling direct debit tomorrow after seeing these comments and keeping a close eye on statements. The phone number and address I was given was – Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd, Unit 23, Capitol Trading Park, Krikby Bank Road, Knowsley Industrial Estate, Kirby, Merseyside, L33 7SY. Tel – 08702 245777.
just read your comments on dswc ltd… this sounds like satlink services ltd… whome no-one can seem to get hold of!! alarm bells ringing yet! i think so ….. for all cover i recoment domestic and general or viewsure ltd
I got an out-of-the blue call from a Ryan Dougherty from this organisation telling me my Sky Box needed warranty to be renewed. I smelt a rat. Said I’d check on the Web first. Thank goodness I did! MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU.
We don’t even have a Sky box and these scam artists have mailed us twice about the urgent need to renew our warranty. Why don’t the police do something about bastards like this?
have been trying to get in touch with this company to change my box no luck so please forget this shower of s..t
these despicable people have “scammed ” money out of my 85 year old mother in law. They did their (normal it appears now) phone call to her last Wednesday saying ” how’s your sky box? You haven’t replied to our letter and your cover runs out soon.” When she didn’t understand as she had never set up the account with sky herself, her son did it, she was worried she had an outstanding bill she should have paid. The girl on the phone then persuaded her that the only way to get cover to start in time, before it ran out was to pay the full annual amount of £64.99 or £99.95 for 2 years…..
2 big mistakes were made, firstly they conned her into paying for something she didn’t either want or need, thinking she must have it or she wouldn’t have her sky box!!!!
Secondly they called her on an UNLISTED number and didn’t even know her name. They were trawling for numbers, no data base at all. My daughter was at home and had a call from them the previous day – we don’t even have sky and our phone number is close to mother in laws.
I am writing to them and anybody else I can get in touch with, if not for compensation then at least to make others aware. Watchdog next!
Friday 18 June 2009 – my first encounter with this organ – subsequent to signing up with them in good faith [!] was yesterday [Thursday] early afternoon when I called them on their Liverpool number [local for mefor service as I suddenly had no Sky reception. I was told that an engineer would call me back. This morning, there being no engineer call in the interim, I called again and was told that ‘all their telephone communications were down and had been since Tuesday’. They had no idea when an engineer might be in touch: Today, tomorrow or Monday perhaps…!
This seems pretty weak to me… does anyone have any further info on this situation?
I had a contract with Nationwide Digital lasting a couple of years, which I paid by direct debit (big mistake). I did, on one occasion call an engineer out, he came promptly, was unable to repair the box so replaced it with a new one. Some time after that I noticed 2 direct debits going out of my account. I was told two companies had merged and to cancel one direct debit, which I did, but did not receive a refund. End of last year I decided to cancel the contract. I deleted the direct debit and thought that was the end of that. Back in Feb this year I noticed Nation Digital had reinstated the dd and taken £50 out of my account without permission. I complained to the bank who reimbursed me. I gave the bank background info on this company and asked they put a stop on this happening again, which they said they would. I also sent a letter to Sat Dig advising if they take any further funds from my account without authorisation then I will take legal action. It has happened again, today, they have set up the direct debit and taken £6 out, hoping no doubt that I would not notice such a small sum leaving my account. I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ADVICE, these gangsters should be stopped.
Hi,
Just got the same message as above, except its £6.49 a month now, I always do a search on stuff like this and found this website, the laughable thing about it is that both my sky+ box and second box has been replaced for free by Sky because they were broken, and both boxes were about 2 years old, I told them I would go to Virgin Media if they did not fix/replace my boxes for free lol
Now I suggest that you return their letters back to them, with ‘No Thanks’ or something stronger written on the back, if you wish in their freepost letter, just tipex your address details off, the reason for this is, that they pay 28p for the letter to be sent to them
a little bit of revenge for all who get these letters
for a year these people claimed my premium TWICE a month. In the process of moving house I hadn`t noticed. When I contacted them they claimed to have sent me a letter telling me the two companies had merged. I got no such letter. Have been trying to get my money back for months. Was told on May23rd cheque was in the post. MORE LIES. Will now go to Trading Standards.
i have also been stung by these, and my bank refuses to do anytign about it, all they said was phone citizens advice to see if they can help getting the money back. it looks like they may be learning. as they didnt do direct debit as they told me they took teh money once a month at a time that was more convenient for them by a point of sale. i only just found out about this, because another company phoned me today called digital repair services. from what i have found out its a scam company that has told me about a scam company. i have 2 different numbers for digital warranty and 1 number that closely resembles a number i have for digital warranty care the last 4 digits are different one is 6449 and the other 1338. i would like my money back but the bank says i may not get it. i am usually very careful and cant believe i fell for it. just gonna have to keep fingers crossed that we get the money back.
I was phoned up by this company saying that my sky digital warranty was ready for renewal and did I want to do it on the phone. they had an offer of £95.99 for 18 months warranty and took my bank details. She knew my name, address and convinced me she was from Sky. A certificate arrived “Sky Digital Warranty Certificate” phone number 0871 265 9865 with both the Liverpool and London addresses on. I called this number and asked for my money back and they told me to send an email to refunds@warranties.co.uk to claim it back. I live in hope.
Had a call today, which I thought was from Sky to renew my repair plan. Contact number given was 0844-3351338, which annouces itself as Digital Warranty Care, but just has a recorded message, say all agents are busy.
Foolishly I gave them my debit card details for a quarterly payment of £18. Had a look at my Sky Repair Plan, and phoned them to check this change. Digital Warranty Care has no connection with Sky, and they told me that they had been shown on BBC Watchdog. Rang Bank straightaway to stop payment. Said this not possible and that I should contact company(how??). After much pressure got bank to cancel debit card, so hope this effective before any payment taken.
Hi Ken,
Thats exactley wot happened to me, did you ever hear from these guys again? guess i better cancel my DD.
Meena
Well I checked my bank today to find £6.49 has been taken for DIG SAT WAR, WHO I say to myself, panicking I go through all my paperwork to find nothing so I call the bank who very kindly cancel the DD and refund me the money and then gave me the details of the company.
Conveniently this number just rings out and I end up phoning a 0870 number to be told I took this cover out over the phone back in April and no documentation would be sent until the 1st payment had been made!!!! What a joke I do not recall this and I am so careful with giving out details that I am concerned to say the least.
I felt as if I was being told off my the gentleman on the phone as if it was my idea to get the box covered, which is already covered by SKY.
Are these scumbags also known as Satellite and Homecare Ltd? They phoned my husband last night and no mention of insurance was made, only that’as valued customers of Sky and due to the fact that you haven’t made use of any of Sky’s special offers, you will be receiving £5, we need your debit card details to credit your account’. I have a phone number 08716419910. We will be going to the bank on Monday and also seeking professional advice!!!
I am now extremely worried as I was contacted by phone and tempted by there special offer of £50 p.a. if you took it out for three years so I paid £150 by debit card on April 16th 2009 and I have received no confirmation letter from them. Oh dear what have I done, I am not normally so gullible and I have only just questioned it today because I got another phone call from a company offering me digital satellite cover and I did ask them how they had gotten my number and did sky know they were poaching there customers and they hurriedly hung up. I am now left wondering whether or not it was the very same company???? has anyone had any luck in reporting these people or getting a refund, if so I would be grateful for your input
Oh my god, who gives a [bad word removed]… I discovered this site by accident.. Who in their right mind would take out “extended warranty” for a sky box that never breaks, ive had sky for about 15 years, never broke once.. The people taking out these warranty contracts are dumber than the peolple selling them
You say who needs cover, Sky boxes never go wrong, well lucky you. I got my first one Nov 07, within the first year it developed a major fault and was replaced by sky thankfully but it took a while. Cause even though you can record many many hours of programs don’t because the box can’t cope with more than 50 percent used. Now about to have my third box, as this one freezes in playback mode then shuts down and you have to wait 5-10 mins before its back, then, when you try again to play back or fast forward it does it again. Great these Sky+ boxes arn’t they.
Why would anyone want insurance cover for your sky box anyway? If your box develops a fault ring up sky and tell them. If they say repairs are down to you tell them your cancel the subscription, do u really think they will let you go. No way, some people pay £60+ a month to sky and they dont wana lose your business, stand your ground, speak to retentions, u will find that they will replace the box free of charge, it works trust me.
one of these companies took two payments from my bank .i have had no paper work from them so i cant contact any one on my bank statment they were i digital services my bank has tryd and failed to get my money back .has anybody got phone numbers .iam 70yrs old and dont no much about the internet many thanks
Sylvia,
Try 08702245777. I can’t guarantee you’ll have much luck. They keep taking £49.99 out of my bank every now and again. Last time I got in touch with them, they said I’d ordered broadband and that is why they took payment. I never ordered it and didn’t have a computer at the time. We’ve been trying to ring for a couple of days and have been unable to get through.
I just want to clarify that there are two companies using similar titles and noticed a few people are confused to who they are insured with. First Digital satellite warranty coverltd,2nd floor, 145-157 St John Street, London, EC1V 4PY. telephone number 0151 547 5250. And the other company is Nationwide Digital sattelite Warranty Cover ltd who’s address is Unit 5, Capitol Trading Park, Kirkby Bank ROAD, Kirkby, L33 75Y.
On more research have found out that Satcover Is owned by Satelite Direct Uk Ltd, known to BBC Watchdog! Satelite Direct merged with Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd after bad press on Watchdog and a would like to bet they all had the same managing director or connection with a Mr David Reynolds
Can anyone tell me if Digital Warranty Care and Digital Satellite Warranty Services are one and the same company? My Dad has been scammed by DWC and I rang DSW thinking (from this site) that these were the same – they checked his address and postcode and said they had someone else registered there, he’s been there 15 years!!! Therefore, of course, they couldn’t give him a refund because they couldn’t have phoned him in the first place? Can anyone help here please?
I signed up 1st jan this year , I have been advised to write and ask them to repair my sky+ box otherwise they are in breach of contract and I may cancel my direct debit . Got that advice from trading standards
Interesting stuff. generally I think everyone deserves to make money, but when a company generates this much interest there’s something up. Glad I googled them and hope many more do.
@Stuart,
How long ago did you sign up? This stuff must be covered by the distance selling regulations – dunno how long the cooling off period would be tho. Then you have statutory rights – a product must be fit for purpose. Im no expert, but its definitely worth seeking advice about.
i was fooled into taking a warranty for my sky + box , I was under the impression that they were a part of sky . I have tried contacting the engineer to report a fault but cannot get past the answer phone . I note that on the back of the certificate it says I cannot cancel the policy before the 12 month period or legal action will follow . what are my rights
Thank you all very much for the warning … I too received a 2nd notice before deciding to act but was sceptical enough to ‘google’ the FREEPOST
RRHK-EUUZ-EKHC address before responding.
Hi I had a telephone call from Digital Warranty Care saying my 1 years warranty for my Sky equipment is due to run out Iand paid £60 by debit card for 1 years cover early in February I’m still waiting for the warranty paperwork. I had a call from Sky, re my Warranty expiring I told them about DWC and was told that lots of SKY customers have had calls recently, paid for cover and have not been able to contact the company since The number given is 0844 3551338 I’ve tried it and cannot get past the answerphone message. Does anyone out there know what rights we have?
received same letter today, 28.3.9.
surely laws exist which stop them doing this – data protection act, consumer act, fair trading, etc?
Lindsey has sent a reply.
Note – the IP address used by Lindsey is valid, and checks out to be in Liverpool, Where Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd are based. The email address – ally at hotmail dot com – checks out to be unavailable still.
To Lindsey @ Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd, Liverpool.
I think it’s probably worth getting your company director to have a look over the comments. In particular I think we need to know more about where you get your information from in the first place. People don’t care whether it’s a good place to work, we care why you have our details. We know they didn’t come from Sky.
I don’t think it’s a very good company response to say that it’s the customer’s fault if they sign up to the deal - are you sure that’s what you meant?
One last thing – you say you don’t give false information but you gave a false email address.
An employee of Digital Satellite Warranty Services Ltd (calling themselves Lindsey) posted a response to this thread, but gave a false email address – since they can’t verify their identity the comment can’t be approved. The IP checks out to be from Liverpool, so there’s a tenuous linke to Digital Satellite Warranty Cover Ltd. Here’s what Lindsey said:
got a phone call on 27/02/2009 to inform me the same about my warranty been out on my sky + box told me it was only 60.00 to renew it for year (silly me paid it by debit card)the companies name that there going under is digital waranties care just wondering if this is the same company thats been spoken about the number i have is 0844 3351338 but when you phone just answering machine saying all advisers busy tried on many of occasions with no sucess .
I too had £6.50 plus £49.99 taken from my account on 9th February and was told it was for a broadband package (which was news to me!!) and it would take 14 working days to refund. After several phone calls I received the money back in my account on 5th March.I have now cancelled my direct debit and realise that I am only one of many. The best approach is to your bank as they have breached Direct Debit Guarantee.
received the same letter today and even though i work for sky i called them to see what they could tell me. for 1 hd box and 2 sky+ boxes they quoted me £279 a year or £27.99 a month. on asking them how they got my details they stated they get them from other mailing companies. i asked them to confirm when my warrenty runs out and was told they do not hold these details and would not be able to tell me that information. if you want to call them then you can on 01515475250 i got through straight a way. i found this number on http://www.saynoto 0870.com great site. the only warrenty sky endorse is sky protect by domestic and general and you can find out all the information you require on the sky website.
I called them today and asked the same question. Having written to them last month she expressed surprise, told me she had no record and asked whether I had sent it recorded delivery — I guess that’s an option familiar to her
I said I was unwilling to write again as I would doubtless be ignored again, and could I please be told how they got my address and the date my Sky warranty was due to expire?
She said she was unable to give me that information, I’d have to write in, enclosing £10 for the information under the DPA.
I then called Consumer Direct and they will take this up with Trading Standards.
i also recieved the letter that you have published
from digital satelite and was actually considering
taking the insurace offered but the more i thought
about it the more i became uneasy.
i re read the letter and could find no dates for my
sky warranty finishing and decided the best thing to
do was google them.
thank god i found your website.
i will be insuring with the official sky people and would like to thank you for helping to stop me from making a costly mistake. keep up the good work.
jackie and barbara I also have been taken for a ride by this company they also have taken the £6.50 and £49.99 out that they should have not like you I have been promised a refund but nothing has been added to my account, what to do next?
well fancy that Jackie they have done the same thing to me on the 4th FebI phoned when I realised that the other 49.99 had been taken out and was told it was for broadband and telephone -but I never authorised this and the best part is that I am with BT[let's not go there] for the phone and orange for my broadband.Demanded a refund to my account at once and was told it would take 10-14 days!! How can they take it out straight away but can’t give it back if they have made a mistake will now cancel the direct debit and go somewhere else like um SKY
I have just looked at my bank statment and found that this bloody company has taken £49.99 and £6.50 out of my bank. they have no right to do this. this is fraud and if i were to do this i would be arrested and sent to prison. i am now trying to get in contact with them but to no avail. has anybody actually got their money back because i as sure as hell going to get it back. these people need to be stopped.
I remember seeing this company on Watchdog a couple of months back!
I’m sick of their letters and their phone calls. I’m sending them a surprise in their freepost envelope. hopefully they’ll get the hint!
Brilliant idea – lets all send them back their freepost envelopes and that will cost them some pennies!!!
In addition to the normal direct debit for satellite insurance, the company also took £49.99 from my account on 28th January. They admit it was an error on their part but I am still waiting for it to be refunded – initially they said it would take 7 days, then 7 working days & now, today, 7 to 10 working days. It’s outrageous!
This company have just taken another years subscription from my bank without my consent and are refusing to give me a refund. I was totally had by this company – i believed they were sky and was totally unaware payments were taken on a rolling scheme. to everyone out there have nothing to do with them,
Jon,
I was pondering in the bath (as one does), and may have an idea. Sky have said most profusely that they do not give this company our details. This could only leave the retailers who install the systems.
My Sky install was two years ago, by a company I think was called Spectrum, based in Croydon. They and Sky are the only two companies who would know that I had Sky installed. I think only Spectrum could be the culprit.
If you don’t mind me asking, was Sky+ installed by a Sky engineer, or an outside company, like Spectrum?
I have recently received 2 letters from them and have a reply to a complaint saying that the info comes from an external mailing company based in Cyprus. To get the details of the company, I have to send a cheque for £10 under section 7.2 of the Data Protecton Act. As itis my info that is being passed illegally to a third party, I don’t need to pay. I have spoken to the Data Protection Commissioner and they know this company well; if this info is illegally obtained the maximum sentence is 2 years in prison and/or a £25000.00 fine. I think the info is obtained if you ugrade your system as my letters came 11 months after I upgraded to SKY+.
We have just been “had” by this spoof company too! We had the exact same letters sent three times in as many months and we did not respond. HOWEVER they managed to take £54.99 from our account using my husbands details…we have no idea how they got them we are wondering if it is anything to do with the installers? When questioned over the phone a rather rude girl said that it is taken automatically!!!! Our bank cancelled his card immediately and are looking into this, also having checked back on our bank statements to just over a year ago when we had SKY plus installed they took the same amount out then…again we don’t know how and this is very scary, how safe are we from these unscrupulous people??!!
Judy,
Firstly sorry it took me over 24 hours to approve your comment. Digital Satellite Warranty Services Ltd have absolutely no right to do this. I hope your bank sorts it out quickly for you.
For anyone else: If payments are taken by Debit Card without your permission, or you feel that you were duped into ticking a box to continue annual payments, contact your bank IMMEDIATELY when you notice the transactions and ask them to do a ‘chargeback’. You may need to be forceful with your bank, and if they refuse I would recommend that you use their complaints system, and the Financial Ombudsman Service if necessary, especially if you were under the illusion that this company was SKY.
Digital Satellite Warranty Services Ltd use many tactics, and have a history of passing themselves off as SKY in order that they can get their hands on your money. If you are contacted regarding a digital satellite warranty, inspect the letter carefully.
ROLLKIT
I have been trying to track this company down as I sent them a check to insure my box and dish which has been cashed but i can not get intouch with the company!!
